#10 – Beanie Boo Christmas Story: Christmas Morning

Sunlight poured into Olive’s cottage on Christmas morning, which woke up baby Glider.

“Santa, Santa, Santa,” she yelped, waddling out of her bedroom. “HE CAME!”

And with that, everyone in the house was awake. Olive came into the living room to check on he guests.

Chill and Boo opened their eyes. Was it really morning already? Ugh, Christmas. They’d never felt worse about Christmas. At least at home they could celebrate with their families, eat a big meal, sing songs, play games and exchange a few presents. Here: nothing.

“Mama, Mama,” I got a sled. “How do I use this? We don’t have any snow?”

Chill’s big eyes grew even bigger. Sled? That’s what I wanted. That’s what I put on my Christmas list.

“Wait a second, honey,” said Olive. “Let me check the tag. Looks like this is for Chill.”

Chill couldn’t believe it. A sled! A sled! Santa brought him a sled.

“Anything else for me?” Chill said excitedly.

“Looks like there are a few more things here with your name on it, Chill.”

Chill opened up several more presents with his name: 2 Lego sets, a book on how to navigate at sea (hmmm… Santa really does see everything), and a new hat).

“What about me,” said Icy.

“You’ve got a pile too,” said Olive.

Chill helped Icy open up a new ball, a card game called “Go Fish,” and matchbox cars.

“Don’t forget to check you stockings,” said Olive.

Stockings? Stockings? We have stockings? They saw the socks Olive hung up the night before. She used magic marker to mark one with a “C” for Chill and one with an “I” for Icy.

Chill rushed over and turned his stocking upside down. It was filled with Swedish Fish! He’d gotten everything on this list! Santa did not forget him. His dream came true!

At the bottom of the stocking was an envelop. It was a letter from Santa.

“Dear Chill,

Alpine, one of the Reindeer in my flock, has brought your situation to my attention.

How brave you are to have set out on such a dangerous trip, just to get a visit from me.

It seems that I’ve been neglecting you and your community for many years. That is my fault.

I did not know that so many good penguins were waiting for a visit from me.

It is true that my sleigh only flies at night. This presents a problem with transporting presents to you and your fellow penguins on Christmas eve.

I have arranged for my extra reindeer to handle gift delivery to Antarctica from now on. They will be led by Alpine and they will be sure to remember all good penguins from now on.

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention, Chill.

And Merry Christmas.

Love, Santa”

Just as soon as Chill finished reading the letter, there was a scratch at the door (a paw scratch).

Olive opened it to find a tall, beautiful reindeer on the other side.

“Alpine?” Chill and Icy exclaimed.

Alpine’s back was loaded down with an enormous sack of presents, and behind him was a team of reindeer, also carrying present bags.

“Hop on,” said Alpine, “We’ll get you back home for Christmas.”

Chill and Icy looked at each other and smiled from ear to ear. “You’ll take us home?” they said.

“Yes,” said Alpine – “but we’ve got to get moving. We’ve got a lot of presents to deliver in Antarctica.”

Chill and Icy hugged Olive and Glider, threw their gifts into the big red back and grabbed on to Alpine’s strong reindeer back.

They were going back home, with gifts for all.
