The Haunted Mansion: A Beanie Boo Halloween Adventure
By Jinxy Boo
Good evening, children. This is Jinxy Boo. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a black cat with green eyes and ears. I’m known for my fearless nature and my love of Halloween.
I’ve never been called a scaredy cat, because I’m not afraid of anything. Why should I be? I’ve got nine lives and I have barely used up one at this point. Which is exactly why I decided to go trick-or-treating at the one place no other Beanie Boo would go: the haunted mansion at the end of Boo Lane.
You know the house – it’s the one that looks like it hasn’t been lived in over 100 years. It’s the house that pops up in every Beanie Boo’s nightmares. I’m doing it. I’m going there. I’m brave enough. Just you wait and see.
So I walked down the street with my candy bag. My friend Frights ran up to try and stop me.
“Frights, nothing you say or do is going to stop me,” I said.
“But Jinxy, that place is haunted,” he begged me to turn back.
“I hope so,” I said and then pounced off toward the home.
When I got up to the door, I heard the porch floor boards squeak under my paws.
SQUEAAAAAAAAAAAAK.
Wow. This is getting real.
A giant spider dangled over the old wooden door.
I knocked.
“Just what exactly are you doing here,” I heard a small, quiet voice say.
“Who said that?” I hissed.
“I did,” the voice answered, slightly louder this time.
I looked around. There was no one here. Then, I glanced up.
“Right here,” it said.
AHHHHHHHHHH! It’s the spider. The spider was talking to me.
Now before you start thinking about Charlotte’s Web and spiders saving animals’ lives – let me clear: this was not THAT kind of spider.
This was a big, big spider, with sharp pincers and glowing eyes, dangling from a thread – ready to grab me, spin me into its web and feast on me for a week.
“Trick-or-treat?” I said with all the bravery I could muster.
“Trick!,” he demanded. “I’d like the trick,” he said, narrowing his eyes.
“You said the magic word,” I answered. “My name isn’t Jinxy for nothing!”
And just as I prepared my disappearing act, a giant gust of wind blew the door open and me into the house. At the same time, the spider glided on what looked like a silk zip-line into, through the door, up the stair railing and out of site.
Inside, it was dark, very dark.
I wasn’t sure what to do at this point. Had I gotten far enough? Or should I keep going?
I crept slowly through the door to get a better look.
Luckily, my feline night vision is adjusted to the light and I could start to see something. The grand hall of this old home was covered, floor to ceiling in spider webs that shone in the shafts of moonlight coming in through the windows.
I could hear music, faintly. At the top of the stairs, a chorus of spiders sang. They bobbed up and down on their silks and sang in high-pitched voices.
We weave,
We spin.
We rid the world of pests.
Tonight’s
The Night
To Feast on all the rest!
Woah! They ARE planning on eating me and every other trick-or-treater that comes to the door!
I hissed and growled and pounced out of this spider mansion as fast as my legs could carry me. Now to warn my friends: stay away from the haunted mansion.
Once I got a safe distance away, I turned back to see the spider chorus gathered at the door, singing in unison:
We weave,
We spin.
We rid the world of pests.
Tonight’s
The Night
To Feast on all the rest!
I felt something hit my back. No!! They are chasing me, I thought. But when I turned around, all I could see was a shiny piece of candy with a spider on the wrapper. They’d thrown me a treat. Was this a trick? Is it filled with spider venom? I couldn’t risk it. I tossed it back, ran away and never, ever returned to the haunted mansion again.
The end.
The story was really good, I found your webpage by searching up beanie boo birthdays and this webpage popped up and I showed my cousin , who collects the owls, and she thought it was really good.
Where is Jinxy ‘s mask??
